Where to Go to Watch the Fireworks This Year

We’re less than two weeks away from celebrating July 4th! Have you picked a spot to view the fireworks yet? If you haven’t, there are plenty of places in Maryland where you can celebrate Independence Day — no trip to DC required!

Where’s the Best Place to Watch the Fireworks?

two people holding sparklersWhen you live in Maryland, you can see the sky light up red, white, and blue either in your own community or just a few minutes away. On July 4th, 2017, several communities in Montgomery County are hosting their own spectacular fireworks displays, and many are kicking Independence Day off with live music and entertainment.

Here are a couple of the best fireworks-watching spots in the area.

Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, MD

Visit South Germantown Recreational Park in the Germantown area to watch the fireworks during the 2017 Germantown Glory celebration. This event is one of two Independence Day events hosted by Montgomery County this year. View the event flyer to learn more.

Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in Rockville, MD

Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic to Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park for a night of July 4th festivities in Rockville. You’ll be able to view the fireworks from within the park. Be sure to come early for live music and delicious food!

You Can Watch the Fireworks on July 1st, Too

fireworks shooting off at a parkCan’t make it to the fireworks on July 4th? Don’t worry! You can get your fix of Independence Day fun and fireworks by traveling to Gaithersburg on Saturday, July 1st.

This year, Gaithersburg is combining its Gaithersburg Festival and Independence Day celebration into one massive event. SummerFest 2017 will feature a spectacular fireworks show at Bohrer Park, plus a full day packed with live music, all kinds of activities and games, a classic car show, beer tasting, and an after party with music and dancing.
